Henriques Nogueira Secondary School

The design is a global framework with refurbishment of existing buildings and the construction of new ones.

The position and volume of the new buildings creates a small urban system with the inescapable articulation with the existing buildings. This scheme is aimed to the optimization of the open spaces in between buildings creation a strong characterization of the open areas.

There is a strong connection between the existing buildings and the new construction that is visible by the dimensional connection and special articulation between them.

The Library building is a volume with 4 interior courtyards that is intersected by a constinuous ramp trought whole the building. This design scheme was created to enable the acess of disable persons from one ground floor to the upper floor, but more then a functional consideration is a reinvention of the modern “promenade architectural” creating a dance of proximity and remoteness with the interior of the building.
